An app is often the easiest way for your customers, members or staff to use a system you already run, whether they're booking a stay, signing up for an event or checking their details.
We design and build apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV, and for Android phones, tablets, watches and TVs. An app usually sits on top of a system, either one we've built for you or one you already use, so the app and your team work from the same data.
From the first conversation through to its launch in the App Store and Google Play, you'll be talking directly to a developer working on your app. We work with businesses and organisations across North Yorkshire and around the UK.
AerosTV is our own app, a guide to every UK channel that opens each one in its broadcaster's app or plays it live from an HDHomeRun tuner on your home network.
We built it first for Apple TV, then for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, with most of the code shared between them. It has seven days of listings, live TV from a tuner that can be paused and rewound, a Playlist that follows your shows and reminds you when they start, and favourites and settings kept in step across your devices through iCloud.
The guide comes from our own API on Cloudflare's network, and the app sends nothing about who's using it or what they watch. You can see more of it at aeros.tv.
| Devices | Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro |
|---|---|
| Built with | Swift and SwiftUI, in one project for every device |
| Live TV | From an HDHomeRun tuner, with pause and rewind |
| Channels | Opened in their own apps, including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4 and My5 |
| Sync | Favourites, Playlist and settings through each viewer's own iCloud |
| Behind it | Our own API on Cloudflare's network |
| Purchase | A free week, then one purchase that covers every device |
Each of these would sit on top of the kind of system we already build and run, so the app and the office see the same bookings, members or listings.
Members check availability, book and pay from their phone, and get their confirmation and reminders there, with the booking showing for the office straight away.
News, events, documents and offers for a federation, association or club, where members sign in with their membership details.
Bookings, enquiries and jobs on your staff's phones, with a notification when something needs them, from the same system the office uses.
Listings from an agent's own system, with saved searches and an alert when a new property matches.
Job alerts and quick applications for recruitment firms, connected to the applicant tracking system behind their website.
Agendas, speakers, tickets and check-in for conferences and events, updated from the system the organisers already use.
For Apple devices we build natively in Swift and SwiftUI, Apple's own language and framework. It's how AerosTV is built, and it gives an app the most from each device, from widgets and Siri to the Apple Watch and Apple TV.
For Android we build natively in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. When one app needs to run on both iPhone and Android and doesn't need much from either device, we can build it once in React Native, so there's one codebase for both.
Every app is tested on physical devices as well as simulators before it goes to Apple and Google for review.
| Apple | iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro |
|---|---|
| Android | Phones and tablets, Wear OS watches, and Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV |
| Built with | Swift and SwiftUI, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, or React Native |
| Connected to | Your existing system or website, or an API we build on Cloudflare's network |
| Published | In the App Store and Google Play, under your own developer accounts |
Your app is published under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, so it appears in the App Store and Google Play under your business's name and stays yours.
We're added to your accounts' teams to build, test and submit it, and we can help you set the accounts up if you don't have them yet. Apple and Google each charge for a developer account, and both review an app before it's published.
Apps are scoped individually, because the work depends on which devices the app is for, what it needs to do and what it connects to. The price is worked out from the hours the job needs and quoted as a fixed price, and you'll have the scope and the price in writing within a week of our first conversation.
Usually both, unless you know who'll be using it, such as staff who are all given iPhones. When an app needs to be on both and is mostly forms, lists and bookings, one React Native app for both keeps the work down. When it needs the most from each device, such as widgets, the Apple Watch or a TV, we build natively for each.
Usually, yes. An app reads and writes your data through an API, the same way a booking form on your website does, and if your system doesn't have one, we can build it.
Yes. AerosTV began on Apple TV, so we know how an app should work from a remote rather than a touchscreen, and we build Android TV and Google TV apps natively too.
If the app works with a system that's already running, it uses that system's data wherever it's hosted. Systems and apps we build on Cloudflare's edge platform run without a server, so they're hosted on their own plan, quoted with the project, with their data held in Cloudflare's Western Europe region and handled under UK GDPR.
An app needs updating as Apple and Google release new versions of their software each year. Support and changes after launch aren't part of the project price, so they're either covered by a plan or quoted separately.
Tell us who the app is for and what it needs to do, and you'll be speaking to a developer who'd be building it.
